Natural contests usually range from birth to 18 years old while children from 0 to 12 years old usually participate in show contests. Don't appear in another contest system and try to recruit contestants as this is considered rude and frowned upon by all members of the contest community. While beauty contests have existed for centuries flashy pageants are a more recent phenomenon that began in the United States in the 1960s. Therefore flashy dresses can be very puffy and uncomfortable especially for contestants in small beauty pageants. So what type of makeup is allowed in Washington DC pageants? Natural contests encourage minimal use of makeup and hair products while glitter contests allow for more elaborate looks with false eyelashes hair extensions and other products.
